When the plans for relaunching the site first came about, it was clear that the most important aspect that had to be addressed was content usability. There was tons of photos but no real meaningful way of organizing them. Updates just seemed to get lost in a black hole after a while.
We tried to remedy this problem by revamping the whole structure of the site, and designating the search bar as the main tool for navigation throughout the site.
This is the fourth major overhaul of the site since its official launch in 2002, and the first since 2005. In the past four years many new trends in design and functionality have come and gone, however the site still managed to look fairly fresh, even by today’s standards. We had to create a worthy successor in terms of visuals and usability, and this past year the broad adoption of modern browsers has finally enabled us to deliver on this promise.

Close to 60% of you are using Firefox to view the site, and less than 5% are using IE6. Thus an overwhelming majority of you should be able to view the site the way it was intend (with the exception of the drop-down menu issue with IE7, which we are working on).
But enough with the boring stuff, on to what is truly of importance — the content! Over the next few weeks we will try to make up for lost time by adding close to 10gb of new content!
Enjoy the new site! And please let us know if you find any bugs you think we should address.
